My thoughts on this article.
Jesus, the ultimate giver gave us everything so that we could fully live and fully celebrate who God is and who we are as his children. As a counselor and a fellow sojourner, I see and experience the strong desire to be loved, accepted, cherished, respected, and valued. It seems as if we all have an invisible sign on our forehead that says," do you love me; am I valuable?”
As I reflected on this list of toxic behaviors: envy, overly sensitive, victimize, negative thinking, lack of self-control, superficial, and cruelty, I began to realize that these are all empty attempts to feel good about who we are. The reality is if we are in Christ we are fully accepted and cherished. We tend to forget that!
In Philippians 4:8 Paul tells us how to renew our mind. He tells us to choose joy and to focus, fix our thoughts, on what is true and honorable and right and pure and lovely and admirable; think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."
These toxic thoughts, attitudes and behaviors destroy your sense of value and destroy relationships. I encourage you to take a long hard look at any of your toxic behaviors, attitudes, thoughts and ruthlessly put them to death.
